DAVID BIDERMAN: Executive Director & CEO Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA)

David Biderman is the Executive Director & CEO of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA). He was an experienced and high performing former association executive, and served for nearly 8 years as the Executive Director/CEO for SWANA, the largest professional association for the waste and recycling sector in the United States and Canada. During my tenure, SWANA’s membership increased by more than one-third and I directed the growth of its industry-leading safety program.

He had  been a federal policy thought leader and advocate for 25 years, and have close working relationships with key officials at EPA, the Commerce Dept, and other federal agencies. I speak frequently at industry events in the U.S. and overseas, and have a personal interest in bringing more modern solid waste systems to developing countries.

I enjoyed 18 very successful years at EIA/NSWMA/NWRA, where I was General Counsel and Vice President for Government Affairs, and managed the association’s largest chapter in New York City. From 2006 to 2013, I also served as the Safety Director for NSWMA, and developed their safety program.

SWANA is an organization of professionals committed to advancing from solid waste management to resource management through their shared emphasis on education, advocacy and research. For more than 50 years, SWANA has been the leading professional association in the solid waste management field. SWANA serves over 10,000 members and thousands more industry professionals with conferences, certifications, publications, networking opportunities, and a large offering of technical training courses.
