Jason Lyons is the President of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE). Jason Lyons is a proven risk taker with career experiences spanning R&D leadership through P&L management within the specialty chemicals industry. Highlights include; growing a technological curiosity into a profitable business, breathing new life into projects deemed failures, leading multiple project teams, running projects, mentoring and developing direct reports and leading multiple volunteer based organizations.

I have worked with a wide variety of technologies ranging from commodity to specialty materials, championed novel technologies and delivered results warranting the highest recognition from executive leadership. I have significant experience with the development cycle from early stage discovery to full commercial operation.

I possess a highly collaborative work style demonstrated by forging strong relationships across a wide spectrum of stakeholders; sales, scientists, business leaders, technicians, supply chain, site leadership, manufacturing, all on a global scale. I possess a unique blend of leadership skills, commercial and technical aptitude combined with interpersonal & communication skills.

The SPE Foundation supports the development of plastics professionals by funding quality educational programs, grants and scholarships emphasizing science, engineering, sustainability, and manufacturing while working to create inclusive opportunities for students around the world. In 2022 SPE launched its “Plastics and Beyond” podcast, which focuses on issues of diversity, equity and inclusion in the manufacturing industry.
