Dan Leonard, President/CEO - Association for Accessible Medicines (AAMA)

Dan Leonard is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Association for Accessible Medicines (AAM), the nation’s leading trade association for the makers of generic and biosimilar medicines, which fill 9 out of 10 prescriptions in the United States.

The Association for Accessible Medicines improves access to safe, quality and effective medicine. Better access to medicine is relevant to everybody because, after all, we’re all patients at some point.

Leonard said that one of his goals when he came to AAM was to bring the story of generics and biosimilars to life, “and not just the lifesaving medicines we produce. I wanted to go beyond the data to tell the story of the history of this industry and the hurdles we overcame to get to the point where we fill 90% of prescriptions, to talk about the incredible people who helped build this association and the people who make it work so well today, and to highlight the lives of patients that our medicines make better every day.”

The Association for Accessible Medicines (AAM), which represents companies that manufacture the majority of the FDA-approved generic medications available to patients in the United States, is committed to the safety and effectiveness of the generic prescription drugs in the medicine cabinet of Americans
