SCOT SHARLAND: President Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG)

Scot Sharland is the President of the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG). Sharland is leading AIAG’s collaborative industry initiatives to drive cost and complexity from the supply chain via global standards development and harmonized business practices. Previously Sharland was managing director for Grote & Hartmann GmbH in Germany, a European electrical/ electronics company (now part of Lear Corporation). Here he succeeded in establishing the start-up of its North American operations in both the United States and Mexico.

Scot Sharland is the executive director of the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG), joining the organization in September 2005. Sharland is leading AIAG’s collaborative industry initiatives to drive cost and complexity from the supply chain via global standards development and harmonized business practices.

Our mission is to enable collaboration within the automotive and related industries and to provide access to information, education and the tools needed so our stakeholders can continually improve the environment in which they operate.

AIAG’s Quality initiatives span the wide array of product development, manufacturing, service, and customer experience improvement activities to support the manufacturing technology and product innovation advancements that are required from successful and growing suppliers and OEM’s. While grounded in the quality standards and core tools that are the foundation of automotive quality excellence, the current AIAG quality initiatives are exploring new issues, providing insights, and the latest tools and methodologies to support the manufacturing technology and product innovation advancements that are required from successful and growing suppliers and OEM’s.
