DAVID LOFTUS: President & CEO Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA)

David Loftus is the President & CEO Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA). ECIA is a global non-profit trade organization for the electronics industry devoted to promoting and improving the business environment for the authorized sale of electronic components by manufacturers, their reps and distributors. I am also President of Worldwide Insights LLC, a management consulting firm I founded in 2014.

ECIA provides resources and opportunities for members to improve their business performance while enhancing the industry’s overall capacity for growth and profitability. From driving critical conversations and process optimization to product authentication and industry advocacy, ECIA is your trusted source for support, insight and action.

Bringing together the talent and experience of a broad array of industry leaders and professionals representing all facets of the electronics components supply chain, ECIA is uniquely positioned to enable individual connection as well as industry-wide collaboration. As the supply chain becomes increasingly more complex, ECIA serves as a vital nexus for refinement and progress.

Our industry is a nearly half trillion-dollar market employing over one million people. Component manufacturers sell to equipment manufacturers either directly or through industrial distributors, and their sales forces are frequently augmented by independent manufacturer representatives. Because of the sensitivity of many electronic applications and the value of the components, this industry has come under threat of counterfeit devices. The best guard against counterfeit components is for customers to buy only from trusted sources, meaning authorized distributors.

The Electronic Component Industry Association (ECIA) promotes the authorized supply chain for electronic components.
